Music: Mother Falcon, Mariachi Tamazula, The Matchmaker Band
Late night snack: East Side Kings food truckThis wedding was a really sweet one that Ceci and Chris put a lot of thought into.  Among other things, I loved that when we were shooting the first look and portraits before the ceremony, the band, Mother Falcon was rehearsing their songs.  It was really fun to have that playing as background music for our photo shoot, felt like a dream.  I wish I could always have Mother Falcon playing in the background of my photo shoots!  Also the dolls made in the likeness of the bride and groom were a first and AWESOME.  And watching guest get excited when that East Side Kings truck rolled up, well everyone living in Austin knows how welcome that can be late at night (or anytime, for that matter).

From the bride:
Kris and I wanted our wedding day to be the happiest, most beautiful day of our lives, and it truly was! We dated for many years before getting engaged, and we really wanted our wedding to reflect our personalities and interests.  We wanted a beautiful, natural outdoor setting for our ceremony, and the garden at the Barr Mansion was the perfect choice for us. We also loved the rustic but elegant barn-ballroom. We appreciated the “green” philosophy of the Barr Mansion and the fact that it is a certified organic venue.  Our coordinator, Elyse, was so organized and helped the day run smoothly–perfectly, in fact!
Living in Austin, we knew we wanted live music, and we were lucky enough to book some fantastic bands.  Mother Falcon (one of Kris’ favorite local bands) played during the ceremony.  My best friend also played Ave Maria on the violin during the ceremony.  Traditional mariachi music by Mariachi Tamazula played during the cocktail hour.  The Matchmaker Band got everyone out on the dance floor during the reception.
A lot of the smaller details really personalized our wedding.  My sister made the crystal and pearl necklace and bracelet I wore.  I placed a beautiful pin from my best friend’s mom on my bouquet.  Kris wore his late grandfather’s watch.  We carefully chose songs we love for our ceremony:  “All You Need is Love” (Beatles), “Let it Be Me” (Everly Brothers), and “For Once in My Life” (Stevie Wonder version), all played by Mother Falcon.  Our guest book table was decorated with cute, quirky crocheted dolls made to look like us by Allison Hoffman of Crafty is Cool.  Our cake table was decorated with wedding photos of our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents.  For a late night snack, we hired the East Side Kings food truck.  I think all these small details showed our appreciation for our family and history, and also reflected the fun, playful side of our personalities.
Flowers were also very important to me.  I met several times with Abby at Stems to design romantic, elegant centerpieces, and they ended up looking better than I could have imagined.  When I walked into the ballroom for the first time, it looked magical!
Of course, choosing an experienced, talented photographer was extremely important to us.  We loved Ashley’s sense of humor and her talent for capturing all the important and special moments during our day.  We love looking through our photos and reminiscing about that beautiful day, and we know we will enjoy this for many, many years.

Thank you Ceci and Chris for choosing us to photograph your wedding.  And, for your very kind words about me!

Have a great weekend,
