Wind = Glamour.

I am always pleased when the wind picks up while I’m shooting.  It creates a sense of movement and glamour.

Even if the wind picks up a veil just the slightest bit, it adds to the image.

I always notice that brides get a little nervous when wind begins to pick up.  I always assure them that no, the veil is not going to fly off their head!  Well, usually not….So, on your wedding day, pray for wind.  I think wind is a very good thing.

Happy Monday,

A few photos of Lucy & Robie

There are few things as glorious as photographing a wedding in the English countryside.  It was especially nice escaping the Texas summer for awhile.  While I can’t share the wedding with you just yet, here are a few photos of Lucy and Robie that I shot after the ceremony.  Some are with the holga camera too, which is always fun.

More coming soon from Lucy and Robie’s wedding!

Have a good Tuesday,

Old Delhi – street portraits

One of the things I was excited about doing when I went to India was street shooting.  I was admittedly trepidatious about doing so on my own.  I spoke to a photographer friend of mine, Penny de los Santos and of course she had a fixer for me.  Fixers are an essential for photographers traveling around the world who need access to certain areas.  Penny is such a photographer.  With clients like National Geographic and Saveur Magazine, she is used to setting up fixers in different countries and navigating her way through each assignment that she is given.  I am not such a photographer (although I remain constantly envious) so I was delighted and relieved when Penny introduced me to Vineet Modi.  Vineet guided me all around the streets of old Delhi.  He’s also a photographer, so he was patient with me and very encouraging of me to interact with the people I met on the street.  For some reason, I ended up doing a lot of quick portraits.  This is pretty unusual because I am so used to shooting on the fly and capturing moments.  While I have many photos of life happening on the streets of Old Delhi, here is a sampling of my favorite portraits:

OMG, Guns N’ Roses sweater vest!!

Thank you again, Vineet for such a fun day!

St. Cecilia, Courtney and her details.

Courtney has fantastic personal style. I loved the way her wedding day elements were effortlessly “non-wedding.” She got ready at the St. Cecilia which is a new boutique hotel in Austin chock full of amazing details.

Yes, that is a giant red puffy lounge chair.
Check out the fun gold earrings:

Pockets. Her wedding dress had pockets. Every chance I got: “Courtney put your hands in your pockets.” Because pockets on wedding dresses are unexpected and lovely.
Fab gold Mui Mui sequined purse:

More to come from this wedding. The Ceremony was at a separate location. It was outdoors, clever and beautiful.

Happy Sunday All! If you’e in Austin, Texas today, I hope you are enjoying this unseasonable cool weather!
